The Dreaming Body and Dance Ritual
The dreaming body holds the dream we came into life with. When the dreaming body is cloudy or “tired” we can feel stuck in old patterns or habitual ways of being, we might feel direction-less or unable to create the lives we would like. The dreaming body is part of our energy field and is much like an egg-shaped aura around our belly, like a smaller version of the aura around our body. When the dreaming body is balanced, we know we are “on-track” and we move through life with ease, creating our dreams in the everyday world.
In this series of 5 retreat days throughout the year, we will be exploring our dreaming body through conscious movement and the Wheel of life, where we might find more of our non-ordinary selves, release what is no longer serving us and create trackways for expanding more fully into our everyday lives. You are welcome to join me for one or more of these days.
Day 1: Discovering the Magical axis – the East and West directions.
In the East we meet our magical child; this is where we bring in our energy, our fire for life, this is held in our first chakra, nourishing the whole body, fuelling our lives. How do we sustain our inner fires, our spark for life, our passion for living? How do we embrace our magical selves and bring our magic to the everyday?
In the west we find our magical adult; we receive in the inspiration from the east; into our bodies and embrace our magical selves. Here we develop our intuition, our deeply held body wisdom, knowing what direction to take, what to do in any situation. Following our body knowing takes us out of our minds and any fixed course of action, into unknown territory; where everything is possible; we are in the flow of life, the serendipitous flow; we meet those who support us on our soul’s journey, we meet the situations that can bring us further along our path.
Day 2: Discovering the Everyday axis – the South and North directions.
In the South we meet our everyday child and trust and innocence. She/he who looks in wonder and awe at the beauty of the world. This is the realm of the Goddess, the plants and the grasses that cover the earth. Here the goddess takes care of our everyday child, and in this balance, they dance together in the Dream.
In the North we find our everyday adult, the one who makes life work, who knows how to weave magic into the everyday. Here we meet the god, the protector of woman, holding the heart light and the connection with the animals and their gift of love. When the north is in balance, we dance our design in the north east.
Day 3: Dancing with the Ancestors and The Dream.
In the South -West we meet our ancestors, both blood and spiritual. This is an opportunity to give thanks for those who went before us, to make connections and to listen to what our ancestors want to offer at this time. We are in the place of self-concept, knowing who we are beyond the personality’s we live by; the deep ever-present, all-knowing part of you. How do you view yourself? What messages are you giving to yourself as you grow along this path.
N.B it really doesn’t matter what your family background, what is known about your physical ancestors. Here is an opportunity to find some of your ancestral tribe and begin to form relationships with those who wish to support you.
In the South -West, we journey into the dream. Here we may pick up more of our soul’s desire, our soul’s purpose, what we came into life to fulfil. What are we dreaming for ourselves and our families, our communities, the world? What makes your heart sing, what piece of the world puzzle are you here to contribute?
Day 4: Dancing with Karma and Design of Energy.
In the North- West we meet Karma and the Karma Guardians. Are we caught in old patterns and cycles? Is there something we might release at this time? What may we find out for our next steps along the path. Here we may transform old habits into active ways forwards, creating a path of Dharma.
In the North- East we enter Design of Energy; this is your inner conductor or inner choreographer. How are you designing your life? What template is in place, is it one of beauty? Is it filled with love? does it flex with the changes we are moving through? Design of energy is where you create your dream in the everyday world.
Day 5: Dancing our centre, with the wise elder and the grandmothers.
As the song say’s “at the centre of the centre there’s a world which never ends”
The centre is the place of the grandmothers and our wise elder, the all-knowing part of us. The centre alchemises; bringing in the information from the 8 directions and creating our life. It is the epicentre for change and transformation. Here spirit is free. Our lives can change in a second through the wonder and excitement of life. This is the place of openness.
